Christmas at Hagar Home Maternal Center in Romania

AGWM Reagan Glugosh, founder and director of Hagar Home Maternal Center in Romania, relates some very touching stories of the Christmas celebration there. She states, “Christmas day I spend at Hagar Home Maternal Center. The best gift that anyone could have given me, was that morning, *Adela, one of the mothers in our program led devotions and shared about the true meaning of Christmas, something that she admitted she had not understood before coming to our home. This truth has transformed her life this past year, as anger and fear no longer control her. You can tangibly see how God is working, through her every day actions and responses, as well as her understanding of His word. The US marines from the embassy in Bucharest visited us. The children sang Christmas songs, recited poems and interacted with them. Afterwards they received presents from the Toys for Tots program. It was really special to have them with us!

One afternoon in December, *Daniel, a 9-year old boy at our center decided to make his own Christmas card.  Inside he wrote the words, “May you always love winter because it’s the season of the birth of the Lord”. When I read this, I was profoundly moved.  I would have expected him to write about Santa Claus or something similar—what most children his age, with limited understanding, would have written.  Later that evening, when *Daniel’s mom *Anca came home, I showed her his card and congratulated her on the type of boy she is raising.  She smiled and told me that one night, when they were praying before bed, *Daniel thanked God for choosing her to be his mother. Her words melted my heart, but most of all I was impressed how she valued prayer time with her son—something that only the Holy Spirit could have helped her to understand.

I’m so happy for every glimpse that God shows me of how He is working in the lives of the mothers and children at Hagar Home. I’m encouraged that nothing is impossible for Him! He turned *Anca, who was very closed to Him and even cried the first Sunday she had to go to church, to a new person who is beginning to understand more and more, her need for God in her and her son’s life!
