A team from Norway came to Avila, Spain to evangelize on the streets along with AGWM personnel, Scott and Marisa Smith. There are some amazing testimonies of what God did there. An example was when three of the team were sharing Jesus with a young man. Right there as he experienced God’s presence, he started to cry. Moments later two teenaged girls came up and asked them if they could tell them what they had been sharing with the young man as they wanted to hear it, too. People coming up and asking to hear the Gospel…a new thing happening in Spain. The team emphasizes praying for the sick. Scott was with two members of the team, witnessing to a teen, and one of the Norwegians asked the girl if she had an injury. She answered “Yes”, for she had hurt her knee playing soccer. So the Norwegian asked if they could pray for her to be healed. "Of course", the teen answered and they prayed. Then after prayer, the Norwegians started to walk off and Scott turned to the teen and asked if she felt any difference. She answered “No”. So the Norwegians were asked to pray again for healing and after, a look of amazement came over the teen-aged girl's face. She was healed right there in the street. She also gave her life to the Lord and asked that the team witness also to her friends.
Scott goes on to tell that along with AGWM personnel, Kevin and Karen Prevost, they were in line for lunch when a man heard them talking in English to the Norwegian team. “He spoke to us in English and after conversing for a while asked if we could have lunch with him in a couple of days which we did. Turns out he has a PhD in economics and is the dean of the law and social science departments at the University in Avila. We had a two hour lunch with him and talked only about the Lord. There is no doubt that he believes in God but he now sees that he needs to make an commitment and make Jesus the Lord of his whole life. An amazing conversation.”
The team went every day to the main square when the high school students get out on their break. They have 30 minutes before they have to go back to class so the team gave a couple of testimonies and a short salvation message and then went out and talk one-on-one with the students. Scott tells about a day when many of the high school kids came right over, not waiting for the team to go to them. One day, one of the Norwegians went with the pastor's daughter. They prayed for a teenaged boy's shoulder. The next day this unsaved young man came up and said that he had been healed! One of his friends came up and asked if he could have prayer for his knee.
God is meeting hungry and open hearts in Avila!
