Dresden's Oasis for Christmas

Many refugees from Syria and other countries have come to Germany to seek asylum. The city of Dresden has taken in refugees which has not been a well-liked decision by many of the general population. Feelings of animosity, suspicion and fear are prevalent. The families of the Oasis Church in Dresden invited 40 refugees to enjoy coffee and Christmas cookies and used that opportunity to share with them why we celebrate Christmas. They also explained some of the German traditions. What a beautiful act of God‘s love it was to show these refugees that the Body of Jesus Christ accepts them and welcomes them even though they meet so much rejection elsewhere. It reminds us of the words Jesus said, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me…”
