A Growing Church in Albania

In 2012, the Assemblies of God national church in Albania had the goal of planting five new churches and doubling the number of believers in the fellowship in five years. AGWM personnel Kurt Plagenhoef states that a recent survey of the churches was done which revealed that much more is happening in church planting than formerly thought. The AG of Albania currently has 17 church plants under way. Fourteen of them are being established by mother churches, and two are being founded by foreign missionaries.

The national church has also achieved the goal of doubling the fellowship. Half of the churches are multiplying. Two of them are focused on reaching the Roma minority. In one of the church plants, Bathore AG, over 100 people have been saved in the last 3 years. During a VBS held in October last year, 30 of 60 kids came for the first time and all prayed to accept Christ. All glory to God!

Yet, the AG is only present in four of the twelve counties of Albania. Also there needs to be many new believers to be baptized in water or in the Holy Spirit. The need is to strengthen these weaknesses and mature the fledgling churches into sovereign churches. Many areas of the country remain unreached, especially in the north. There is plenty of work to do. The need to pray for the Lord of the Harvest to send and raise up more workers is evident.
