Pieces of the Puzzle - Germany
God builds puzzles! This story of one woman illustrates this so well. Kathi grew up in Berlin under very sad circumstances with parents who were alcoholics. Her situation was so bad that on her own initiative, she went to live in a children‘s home at the age of 14. Some years ago she moved to Dresden with her partner and three kids. Sadly, her partner was not much different from her parents and life was a struggle for Kathi. She is a strong person and has always been a fighter, so she was determined that her kids were going to have a better childhood than she did.

One daughter decided to move back to Berlin to live with her father since the current partner at home was doing drugs From other Moms in the neighborhood, Kathi heard about the Kidsclub which our AGWM personnel, the Walents are involved with and so she started coming. But her oldest daughter Josi (then 10) felt it was “too childish“ for her so they did not show up at the Kidsclub for a year. Then at the end of September when some members of the team went around to invite children to Kidsclub, Josi answered saying “I want to be baptized, can I do that in your church?” They had gone to Berlin to attend a wedding the week before and stayed in a hotel. There Josi found a book, a Gideon Bible, and started reading it when she was bored – and she couldn‘t stop! She took it home and had been devouring the Bible every day since.
The Walents invited them to church and Kathi and her two daughters came. They said they had never before experienced such a wonderful service . Josi kept coming every Sunday. As things got even worse at their home, the Walents invited them to come to a family camp in October. Kathi and the two girls came. The last night there, Kathi and Josi sat down on the “blessing seat“ in the prayer room. Christina Walent asked what they wanted prayer for, and Josi cried and said she would so much like for God to accept her. After talking to them, Josi and Kathi gave their hearts to the Lord. All of heaven threw a party as God wrote two new names in the Book of Life!
The Walents are in the process of getting them help with their family situation. Good things have been set in motion and Kathi is so grateful for the support she has found among her new brothers and sisters in God‘s family. She has also been paired up with a mentor to help her grow spiritually. Many different people were a part of this puzzle God built - everyone put in their special piece. And God keeps building. Time will tell more as to what God has in store for them!
